Misterwives | Smallpools | Vinyl Theatre

Down to the ATL we went to see the absolutely fantastic band,  the Misterwives. If you haven't heard of the Misterwives, I suggest you educate youself because they good. This is Brittany's #1 top band, so obviously we had to go! This is the second time we have seen them live, but the first time we have seen them headlining. Let me just start out by saying, THEY PUT ON SUCH A GOOD SHOW! Check out our video, if you don't wanna read words -- (TBH Life Concert Vlog)

For this tour, they have two openers; first up was Vinyl Theatre. They have a sort of whiny punk vibe that I have to say is my most loved type of music. They played one of their older songs that had me quickly becoming a fan (Breaking Up My Bones -- Vinyl Theatre). Plus, it doesn't hurt that the lead singer is quite a looker. Sadly though, I do have to mention that they did play a new song that literally has four lyrics total- "me, myself, and I", which is not great. Nonetheless, I still am going to start listening to their stuff.

The second opener was Smallpools. Before any of us had ever even seen this band, we were just cracking jokes waiting for the doors to open and we renamed them Boujee Swamp for literally no reason. Then, out steps the lead singer onto the stage WEARING skin tight leather leggings, a long tank, and a sparkly jacket/cardigan thing. BOUJEE SWAMP. Anyways, they were really cool in that they had a flippin' xylophone on the stage. I know this may not seem super impressive, but it was. I would probably have more to say about them, but a super annoying, crying, drunk girl would not get off me for their entire set. She was trying to steal our good views that we had waited in line for, BUT NO! we were the girls that could not be moved! But whatevs, the xylophone was cool. This is one of the songs that they played -- it says the "f" word so... if you ain't interested, don't click it... lol (Million Bucks -- Smallpools)

Finally, Misterwives took the stage. It was so so so good. They are such a humble group of people, that are so good at what they do and have such good chemistry as a band. They kept just pausing in between songs to take it all in, because the crowd in ATL was LOVING everything they did. It was just really good. I honestly can't say much else other than if you ever have a chance to see them... SEE THEM! This is probably my favorite song (Machine -- Misterwives) but just search them and listen to any of them, because they are all good.

Side Note by Brittany: I had heard several songs from both Smallpools and Vinyl Theatre before the concert because I like to be over prepared (AKA I make a Spotify playlist of all of the performers' songs and listen to it endlessly in preparation). So I went to the concert with a general knowledge of all the groups. Going into it, I didn't really like either of the openers. After watching Smallpools perform, I have a growing interest in their music. I like their indie pop vibe and they really performed well up on stage. I will say though that the band's overall chemistry is not as good as the Misterwives, but it was still pretty good. My opinion of Vinyl Theatre remains the same... Uninterested for now. They did not have a bass player, which is important to me and kind of irritating that they lacked one. I think the bass line of a song really helps carry the sound and not having a bass player live just made their overall performance underwhelming. I think this band has the potential to be really great, but they just aren't there yet. I think with a few years and a bass player this band will be awesome! I'll check back in on them in a couple of years. Moving on to the Misterwives. They are my favorite band for a reason. They really give it 100% every single time they walk on that stage. The chemistry is the best I have ever seen among band members. Plus. My goodness. Mandy Lee's lung capacity is unbelievable. Like seriously. She is up there jumping and dancing and still singing every word clearly and beautifully and here I am in the crowd jumping and singing and dying from lack of oxygen. She and the whole band really are just incredible performers.

The concert was at a place called Center Stage Theater in Atlanta, GA. All the tickets were sold as general admission. When you walked in, there was a floor area and then seating that wasn't specifically sold to any person. So, you could stand or sit wherever you wanted. So, if you're a teen and your parent has to come with you, but they don't want to stand in the crowd, they can go sit and still keep an eye on you! Or, if you're old like us 23 year olds and you know you only have a few more years left in your knees and are willing to lose you're spot, you can go take a sit break! Just so convenient. But, we stood our ground in the crowd the whole time and LOVED IT! We were about 3-4 people back from the very front of the stage and it was so so fun! Anyways, great venue, great concert.
