Panic! at the Disco, Misterwives, and Saint Motel
“Don’t threaten me with a good time” said Brendon Urie during the concert on April 14, 2017 at Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. And man, does Brendan not practice what he preaches because he sure does threaten the crowd with a good time! Before this concert, I (Brittany) was not a fan of Panic! at the Disco. It is safe to say that I am a fan now! I only went to the concert to see the opener, Misterwives. Oh boy, they did not disappoint! I left a fan of both. These two groups are true performers at heart. It doesn’t matter what kind of music you love, if you see either of these groups live you will leave a fan. Most of the Misterwives’s songs are upbeat which makes for a great time in general. On top of Mandy Lee’s killer dance moves and the group’s chemistry as a whole, they added a wicked drum-off with their drummer, Etienne Bowler, facing off against Mandy (the lead singer), Marc Campbell (guitarist), and Will Hehir (bass guitarist). It was incredible. The most disappointing part of the whole concert was Saint Motel.
As for the venue, that was an all time low. We bought resale tickets for far more than they were worth, which I know is expected from resale tickets. But to be honest, these seats should never have been for sale in the first place. We were in the very last row, and so far right that we were BEHIND the stage. For the two openers, there was a curtain hanging blocking over half of the stage space. We were positioned behind the curtain and therefore we only saw half of the Misterwives and Saint Motel. Literally, we only saw half of the bands, like maybe two of the members each. Luckily, they removed the curtain when it was time for Panic! to begin their set. If you don't believe me, the people beside us emailed Amway center customer service during Saint Motel's set. I think that speaks for both how bad the seats were and also how boring Saint Motel was. The one redeeming quality for the Amway center was their "premium" parking. I guess that is what you would call it. We paid an extra $20 upfront for a parking spot in the garage that connects directly to the stadium. It was very easy to get to and from the venue with our parking spot. Also, having premium parking made it incredibly easy to beat the traffic when exiting the concert which is always something we are going to be concerned about.
Side note added on by Haley: Brendon Urie is one of the best performers I have ever seen. We were at the 2nd to last show of his entire tour, so you know he was tired. BUT, he gave such a great show, and his voice and dance moves are some of the best things I have ever heard/seen even from such a great distance.
